Description

Effective Literacy for Grades 2-4 is a professional development opportunity offered by Arkansas Reading First, the Arkansas Department of Education and the Arkansas Education Service Cooperatives.  It is designed to provide teachers with a solid foundation in a comprehensive literacy program.  The training is based on the Arkansas English Language Arts Framework and research provided by the National Reading Panel Report. It focuses on appropriate assessments and systematic, explicit instruction in the five essential elements of reading as identified by the National Reading Panel:  phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension, as well as writing.   Registration is through the Education Service Cooperatives during the spring of each year.
