Assessments End (last day assessor visits a school building) April 24, 2009

Traditional teachers with a three-year Initial License will take PRAXIS III™ during the second semester of the first year of teaching. Non-traditional teachers with a Provisional License will take Praxis III during the second semester of the second year of teaching.

Note: Praxis II PLT or the subject specific Pedagogy must be passed before taking PRAXIS III™.

Novice Teachers: Assessment Procedures

Step 1: Complete your User Profile and Application for Assessment on-line in ATLAS - Arkansas Teacher Licensure Accountability System.*

  1. Find instructions for completing Step 1 in ATLAS here.
  2. Open ATLAS Instructions for Novice Teachers, download and save or print as needed.
  3. Open ATLAS here.
  4. Complete your ATLAS User Profile.
  5. Complete your ATLAS Application for Assessment.

*Note: Following Step 1 completion, an assessor can be assigned. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received and can take up to three weeks to process. The assigned assessor will contact the novice teacher to schedule the assessment.

Step 2: Complete Required Assessment Forms*

  1. Open and print the Class Profile (PDF June 4, 2008). REQUIRED
  2. Open and print the Instruction Profile (PDF June 4, 2008). REQUIRED
  3. Complete the Class Profile and the Instruction Profile forms before the assessment. Place two (2) copies of these completed forms in your school office at least one (1) hour prior to the assessor’s arrival.

    Candidates and mentors may download the following Pre-Observation and Post-Observation forms to use for practice for the Praxis III assessment.

*Note: All PRAXIS III™ forms have been updated for the 2008-2009 school year. Currently posted forms are required for all Arkansas Teacher Performance Assessments.

PRAXIS III™ results will be e-mailed to the novice teacher and his/her building administrator as assessments are completed, reviewed, and approved by the Office of Teacher Quality.
