In 2006, Arkansas began to use the English Language Development Assessment (ELDA) to assess the English language acquisition progress of English language learners (ELLs). Up until that time, Arkansas had used the Maculaitis Edition II (Mac II).
In 2007, Measurement Incorporated (MI) conducted an equating study that yielded ELDA/Mac II equating scales that allow Arkansas educators to assess growth of individual ELL students over time.
Using the ELDA/Mac II Conversion Analysis and ELDA/Mac II Equating Scales below, ELL students’ scores on the two tests may be compared using a on a common scale – Mac II can be expressed as ELDA scores or ELDA scores can be expressed as Mac II scores.
