H1N1/"Swine Flu" Information
School Districts: A school district's individual decision to close should be based on attendance. Closure should not be based solely on a confirmed diagnosis of H1N1 Influenza in the district. If the decision to close is made, please contact Julie Thompson at 501-683-4786 or Julie.Thompson@arkansas.gov.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Recommendations

- CDC recommends that all children from 6 months through 24 years of age receive the new H1N1 flu vaccine when it becomes available.
More information and recommendations from the CDC are available on the CDC Web site.
Flu Clinics
The Arkansas Department of Health will be offering mass flu clinics in every county again this year. They will also be offering a second clinic in each county at a later date. They will be offering seasonal flu shots and H1N1 shots as well, depending on when H1N1 flu vaccine is available. The ADH will be conducting the first round of mass flu clinics for seasonal and possibly H1N1 flu October 29, 30, 31st.
Some counties are offering drive-thru clinics to assist persons with special needs, etc.
At the mass flu clinics, there is no charge for the shots; however, please bring insurance, ArKIDS, Medicaid, or Medicare cards.
H1N1 shot will be given to priority groups first but there will be enough of the H1N1 flu shots for all priority groups and anyone else who wants one.
Priority groups include pregnant women; healthcare workers and emergency medical responders; people caring for infants under 6 months of age; children and young adults from 6 months to 24 years; people aged 25-64 years with underlying medical conditions (e.g. chronic lung disorders, asthma, diabetes).
School flu clinics for all public/charter school children will start in October and will run for several weeks.
If you do not find the date, location or time for the mass clinic in your county, please keep checking the ADH Web site. Information will be updated as details become available.
