Standards for Beginning Administrators
The State Board of Education adopted the Arkansas Standards for Licensure of Beginning Administrators in May 1996. Developed by a committee of practicing Arkansas administrators, and based on the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) standards, the Arkansas standards focus on improving educational leadership. The core proposition of the six standards is continuous improvement of student learning, guiding the performance-based route encompassing educational leadership, school management, school climate, community relations, curriculum management, and data collection and analysis. Each standard consists of three performance-based measures (knowledge, dispositions, & performance), along with evidence of each.
